From September 30 to October 2, Messari Mainnet 2024 was held at Pier 36 in New York, just five minutes from the Manhattan Bridge. Messari Mainnet is the largest annual crypto event in New York, featuring top professionals from the crypto world, Wall Street, and Washington.

Our experience
Pinax’s Louis-Philippe Bellier and Denis Carrière dove headfirst into the bustling conference. They soaked in as many sessions as they could, making lots of connections throughout the three days. As Pinax is a core dev working on The Graph, we were also there to represent The Graph, which was a sponsor of the event.
The agenda was packed with 110 sessions and kept Louis and Denis running between the different talks, stages, and events.
We were excited to see YAP Global, the official PR partner for Mainnet 2024, gather a bunch of journalists in a war room, buzzing with leading crypto and blockchain news outlets and influential speakers. YAP Global staff describe themselves as crypto translators, working with the media to make crypto, DeFi, and web3 sectors understandable to everyone.

One of our goals at the conference was to discuss how our datasets can power insights for leaders in the blockchain data space.

Bitcoin Layer 2s on the Rise
This session discussed how creative Bitcoin diehards are creating interest for building a DeFi ecosystem on the original blockchain due to the innovations happening on Layer 2.

DePIN Brief
DePIN stands for decentralized physical infrastructure networks. DePIN leverages blockchain technology and smart contracts to develop and maintain physical infrastructure. This session takes a deep dive into DePIN.
As a decentralized infrastructure provider, we got some good insight into what’s happening in the market.
State of Solana
This session was an onstage version of Messari’s industry-leading quarterly reports and went deep into protocol reporting, with direct responses from leaders of the protocols and projects that matter in the market.
The Graph recently announced enhanced support for Solana builders, including new tooling and resources designed to complement Solana’s high-speed ecosystem. So naturally, Pinax was interested in anything Solana-related at the conference.

This session discussed how Solana DeFi is leading the way due to the chain’s high performance, growing development tools, and vibrant community. It answers the question: how did Solana DeFi get here, and where is it headed next?
We loved hearing what is happening with Solana DeFi apps and in the community, including a lot of protocol consolidation right now.
