Introducing the New Pinax App, a Better Way to Manage Your Firehose and Substreams Services

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new and improved Pinax app, a web-based platform that helps you easily manage your Pinax Firehose and Substreams services.

Whether you’re an indexer, a developer, or a curious explorer, the new app will help you get the most out of our services.

If you’ve been using the old app, which is no longer available, read on or watch the video for important information about how to avoid disruption of your services.

💡 We encourage you to migrate to the new Pinax app as soon as possible. API keys generated in the old app will stop functioning on December 21.

What’s included in the new Pinax app?

The new Pinax app is built from the ground up with an enhanced look and feel. It has a sleek and intuitive interface that is easy to navigate and use.

Here are some of the new features and improvements:

• Everything in the app: Previously, for everything on different chains, there was a different endpoint, and after onboarding, you needed to go to a different website to get your chain endpoint—now, you get everything in the app.
• A new guided quickstart flow helps you get up and running with our Substreams services quickly and easily. You can choose your preferred blockchain network and generate API keys.
• A new dashboard shows your usage data on a graph. You can see how much data you’ve consumed and your daily usage for the last 30 days.
• A new login option uses GitHub as the only supported authentication method. Sign in with your GitHub account and enjoy a seamless and secure experience.
• Unlimited bytes read for a limited time: In the future, we’ll be offering enhanced paid plans with options for faster speeds, higher rate limits, and more flexibility to manage your services. Until then, enjoy free unlimited Firehose and Substreams as an early adopter!
• Coming soon: A new team feature will allow you to create a team and manage your services collaboratively. You can invite team members, assign roles, and share API keys. You can also view and manage your team’s usage data and billing information.

How to migrate from the old Pinax app?

If you are already using our services with the old app, you need to migrate to the new one as soon as possible. The old app is no longer available, and API keys generated there will stop working on December 21.

To avoid disruption of services, please follow these steps:

1. Create a new account on the new Pinax app using your GitHub account.

2. Generate new API keys:

• Click New Project.

• Provide a project name.

• Click Create.

• Obtain your API key. Once the project is created, you will find your API key and JWT at the top of your project page. You can always get access to your API key in the Pinax app.

💡 You can create up to 3 projects on our free plan. A single API key can be used for multiple networks and services.

3. Update your services to use the new API keys (and delete your old ones). You can find documentation and examples of using the new API keys on our website.

Why should you migrate to the new app?

💡 The number one reason to migrate to the new app is because it’s the only way to access our services. You can no longer access the old app, and the old API keys will stop working soon.

The new app is designed to provide a better user experience and more features to help you manage your services.

You’ll be able to:

• View a detailed usage graph that allows you to track your daily use of our services. You can see how much data you’ve consumed; the graph is easy to read and provides a quick overview of your usage patterns.
• Get more support and feedback from our team and the community. The new app allows you to join our Discord server to connect with other users and share your feedback and suggestions.
• Access our latest articles directly from the new app. We regularly publish articles and tutorials on our website to help you get the most out of our services. You can read and share our latest articles with your team members and colleagues without leaving the app.
